1) Trace the development of theories of psychoanalytic subjectivity from Freud to Irigaray. This will require you to mention Lacan and Kristeva as well, at the very least, and you should feel free to bring in more than that.
Freud is the father of psychoanalytic thought. He developed the theory and lacan took his theories and changed them slightly. Lacan developed the freudian concept of the subconscious further by emphasizing the real, the imaginary, and the symbolic. Kristeva came after lacan and felt the subject discussion needed to return to the body. She modified the already available psychoanalytic theory to include and empower women by describing the maternal role in the development of the subject. Irigaray focused on the devalued relation of mother-child within patriarchal society. She also focused on the preoedipal stages of development.
this post sucks i know, I really do understand the theories.
